Why do part number searches fail?

There are several integration types within the Sophio system which means discovering why a part number search fails may take a few different steps.  Our most popular is a real time connection with a DMS (distribution management system).  If you are a WHI customer and your b2c site is connected to Nexpart this article should help you figure out what is wrong.

Steps
===
1.  Visit your stores storesetup.wws and click the 'supplier' tab
2.  In the ORDERLINK section grab the user id and password and visit http://nexpart.com.  If your store uses the WHI OE catalog we need ORDERLINK credentials AND OE CATLINK credentials.  In some cases these are the same, in some cases not.  If you are not sure what the credentials are, contact WHI support for the latest and greatest credentials.
3.  If you can login to nexpart.com and do a part number search with the credentials from step 2 you are in good shape!
4.  On the supplier tab, make sure there is an accurate PROVIDER NAME.  If not, contact WHI support and ask them for the provider name for your site.  If you have multiple stores on our system (including sub domains) make sure each store uses the correct orderlink user id, password, and provider name.
5.  If the credentials are correct, and you still get no results.  Do a part number search with the link searchitem.epc?sku=ENTERSKU&nooutput=xml
6.  On the search result, right click the html page (even if you see an error or blank white space) and choose 'view source'.
7.  The source of the page will include the xml request and response sent to WHI ORDERLINK.  Create a ticket at WHI support with both the request and response.

The above is what Sophio support does on a daily basis to diagnose connection issues for failed part number and or application searches.
